
I have lived and worked in Japan, China, Brazil, Brighton and London, and I am now based in the SW of the UK. I have three children, a former career in brand strategy, a Cambridge degree in Japanese and an MA in Acting from ALRA. I’m inspired by the work and ideas of people like Robin Wall Kimmerer, Sharon Blackie, Clarissa Pinkola Estes, Winsome Pinnock, Adrienne Maree Brown, Rob Hopkins, Jess Timmis, Georgia O’Keefe, Julia Cameron, Shakespeare, Caroline Bird, Hollie McNish, Ben Okri, Morgan Lloyd Malcom, Lesley Manville, Jodie Comer, Michaela Coel, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Joanna Macy, The Dark Mountain Project, bell hooks. The list is long! I’m also regularly inspired by many of the people I live and work alongside.
We’re in a period of huge social, economic and environmental flux. We need resilience, sensitivity and ingenuity by the bucketload. We need to be collaborative and honest to navigate this time of disruption together, to work out who we are now and where we go from here. These are the skills that those in the creative sectors have in abundance, and that we can all hone by connecting to our own innate creativity. I believe creativity is at the heart of being human, not an accessory, but essential to a meaningful life. Regardless of the output, it is in the process of feeling, playing, making, sharing, reflecting where the magic really happens.
